Is LIS the right place for my child? An honest Q&A from a LIS student parent

"I thought it wasn't a university for everyone by any means, but the problem-solving/ interdisciplinary approach I thought might be exactly right for my son. I know that my son felt more like he belonged there than any other university we visited."

Check out some of the problems our first years tackled

Through this module we have been trying to understand the complex problem of inequality through our different disciplines. The choice was between network science and political economy and then neuroscience or linguistics.

The LIS course is like trying to do a puzzle

Forcing your brain to find connections leads to new, weird and wonderful insights that could potentially help solve a complex problem.  Although I’ve not been meaning to put you off LIS, it’s okay if I have. Confessions of a Student Experience Coordinator

My goal from the very start has been to build a SXP program which is drastically different from what other UK Universities offer. London being one of the most vibrant cities, we’ve had the unique opportunity to bring the real-world problems the students cover to life. From tours to Q&As, offsites and volunteering opportunities. I wanted to craft a program that went beyond just having fun, to also complementing and enhancing the students’ academic learning while helping build a tight-knit community.
