Problems 1c is the culmination of the first year, building on and integrating previous learning from both Problems and Methods modules. 

At the end of March LIS invited fifty Year 12 students from London Academy of Excellence Tottenham, Ursuline Academy Ilford, Langdon Park School and Dixons Allerton Academy to our campus in Whitechapel to explore interdisciplinary learning, sustainability, and jobs in the 21st century as part of the LIS x H&M sustainability competition.

Through the LIS Network, we also provide students with access and opportunities to engage with a growing and active community of employers and organisations working to tackle some of these challenges within their fields.

In 2021, we opened our doors to our founding cohort. Our OGs. They immediately proved themselves to be what we already knew: that they’re a group of wholly unique and fundamentally interesting individuals — with bags of courage. Forget less trodden. These students took a path that had never seen footsteps.

Here at LIS, we believe that Student Experience should be the bridge between in-classroom-teaching and out-of-classroom socialising, all while introducing you to this incredibly vibrant city we are located in.

Disciplinary perspective (DP) reading groups encourage LIS students to read a wide-ranging selection of books, with the aim of getting them thinking about what different perspectives might contribute to their learning on a problem statement.

Having the opportunity to collaborate with real professionals on contemporary challenges created a meaningful context in which students were driven to investigate, iterate, and evolve their problem-solving.

Here at LIS, we want to really encourage students to take the time to look after their health and wellbeing. Student life (and life in general) can become challenging for many reasons and can affect our physical and mental health, as well as our overall confidence.
