Summary
With GreenRoute, we set out to tackle a complex problem: while green spaces can massively improve mental and physical health, not everyone has equal access to them — especially in urban, economically deprived areas. Our app helps people find nearby parks and quiet areas based on accessibility, noise level, and amenities. It also includes mindfulness tools, mood check-ins, and nature therapy tips, making it both a wellbeing guide and a way to address environmental inequality.
Approach and Methodology
We used design thinking to explore user needs, mapped links between health, inequality, and green space, and prototyped an inclusive, user-friendly app.
Our work combined urban geography, public health, psychology, sociology, and digital design.
