Patricia Daley is Professor of the Human Geography of Africa at the School of Geography and the Environment, University of Oxford. She is also the Helen Morag Tutorial Fellow in Human Geography at Jesus College Oxford. Patricia has researched and published widely on forced migration, political violence, peace, humanitarianism, and decolonial pedagogies in Africa. She is an honorary fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, and a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences. Patricia also chairs the LIS Academic Council.

Richard Ball studied chemistry at Imperial College and Journalism at City Polytechnic before a 30-year career in transport and logistics, which spanned day-to-day operations, management and IT. After a parenting break, they joined LIS as sysadmin, and can be found outside of working hours either fishing hairbands out of the washing machine, or walking through London with a seven-year-old on his shoulders. With a healthy level of interest in detective fiction, playing the guitar quietly so no one can hear, or wondering how things work he keeps busy.

Oscar is the Student & Alumni Engagement Coordinator at LIS, supporting community building, partnerships, and student-led programming. He is a founding graduate of LIS and has previously worked across coaching, creative events, and interdisciplinary systems thinking projects.

Nelly studied her English Literature BA (Hons) at the University of Leeds, taking a particular interest in the Romantics and American literature. She went on to complete her PGDip in Political Communication. Prior to joining LIS, she was in the world of student marketing, working on recruitment, marketing and sales campaigns for clients like EY, Virgin Media, and the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office. Outside of work, she can be found reading, hiking, and attempting to learn the guitar.

Stephen studies how movements, ideas and institutions have shaped society in the USA and Britain, with a particular focus on race, religion, protest and community history. Before joining LIS as Academic Director and BASc Programme Director, he was Professor of Modern History at the University of Oxford and was the founding director of Oxford's interdisciplinary research centre in the humanities. His books include We Ain’t What We Ought to Be: The Black Freedom Struggle from Emancipation to Obama and The Night Malcolm X Spoke at the Oxford Union: A Transatlantic Story of Antiracist Protest. At LIS, he brings an interdisciplinary approach and a passion for connecting past and present struggles for justice.

Ella has a background supporting wellbeing services in both private and NHS sectors, adopting a person-centred and trauma-informed approach. She offers a warm and confidential space for students to explore their personal or academic concerns, allowing them to find a way forward and excel in their studies.
