Interview Questions

What motivated you to pursue the MASc degree at LIS?

I wanted to be intellectually challenged and see what other career avenues I might be able to explore

Can you briefly describe your capstone project? What inspired your research, and what were the key findings?

My capstone was looking at the language of climate change sceptics to understand whether climate change communication science would be effective on changing their minds. My findings were broadly that these people are unlikely to believe climate change science altogether, and that if policy makers and communicators want their support, they should focus on how policy/climate action tangibly improves the lives of people in local communities.

How has the MASc degree equipped you with the skills or knowledge to tackle complex, real-world problems?

The degree has helped sharpen my thinking. I am able to dissect problems in a more critical way and look for the underpinnings of any given problem in a variety of disciplines. For example, looking for quantitative data in qualitative problems is super helpful when trying to bring objectivity to the thinking around the solution.
