Mindshifts

From AI ethics to the climate and ecology crisis, and from political polarisation to pandemics - there’s a growing consensus that the complex problems of modern society can’t be tackled with siloed thinking. But what does ’thinking differently’ look like in practice, and where can we start?

The ‘Mindshifts’ research project at LIS was launched by Dr Ash Brockwell in 2023 as a focal point for faculty, students, and alumni interested in problem-based learning. It draws out common threads between systems thinking, decolonial practice, ‘sustainability’, and regenerative design - highlighting three key messages that all these movements promote, but mainstream education often misses.

This interactive workshop will introduce some of the reflection prompts from the first phase of the Mindshifts project. All attendees will receive a free taster PDF of the workbook and card set that we’re planning to release later this year.
