LIS has been granted powers to award the first degree of its kind in the UK, dedicated to tackling real-world problems such as the climate crisis, the ethics of AI, and COVID-19.
Following a rigorous process, LIS can offer its own degrees and is the first to gain new degree-awarding powers from the start in over 50 years.
The Office for Students (the higher education regulator in England) has said that LIS can award its BASc degree in Interdisciplinary Problems & Methods from 2021. The high regulatory standards mean that an LIS degree is fully comparable to any other university in the UK.
LIS is an official provider of Higher Education and can be found on the OfS Register of Providers. Being a registered provider means that students who study at LIS will be able to access student finance (including both tuition fees and maintenance loans).
Given the importance of choosing where to study we advise that all students keep their options open and apply to other institutions alongside LIS.
