For the Curious: Online Events in March

We can’t go out. But we can live stream. Broadcast. And tune in. 

1st March – 7th March: Glasgow Film Festival. From South Korean films, documentaries, horror and comedy. Get your cinema fill this month from the comfort of your home. (£9.99) 

2nd March: An evening with Kazuo Ishiguro. Chime in for a conversation about the human experience in Ishiguro’s new novel, Klara and the Sun. (£7.81) 

3rd March – 17th March: Women’s Filmmakers Festival with the Smithsonian Art Museum. Female artists working outside of Hollywood that have created films that will be released weekly. Each film will include a live virtual conversation with the featured female filmmaker of the week. (Free) 

7th March: Stravinsky with the London Symphony Orchestra. (Free) 

8th March: United Nations’ Observance of International Women’s Day. A series of speakers including the Secretary-General and the Executive Director of the UN Women will reflect on the achievements of women who have created a more equal future. (Free) 

9th March: More than a Book ClubJoin the LIS team and members of the ID learning community for a discussion of social mobility and socioeconomic background in the documentary 63 Up UK. (Free)  

13th March: Lost Horizon Festival live. The world’s biggest digital venue for art and music. You can check out a four-hour set of Chicago house music, or some virtual film & technology. (£10.00) 

16th March: Launching AI platforms for the NHS. Join renowned leaders in the field who will be exploring the prospect of AI in hospitals and building an AI-ready NHS workforce. (Free) 

16th March: The Poverty Gap: Exposing inequality in the UK. A panel which includes the Director of Public Health and education experts explore the journey to recovery for those who have been most impacted by inequality. (£5.72) 

16th March: Conservation and Restoration of Greek Masterpieces at the Louvre. Join curators and conservators at the Louvre to gain an insight into the new exhibition opening at the museum in autumn. (Free)

18th March – 26th March: Wellbeing in the Workplace with Team London Bridge. Integrating mental health, physical activity, sleep, and nutrition to ensure your wellbeing at work. (Free) 

24th March: Elizabeth Kolbert: Can human intervention save our natural world? Discuss Kolbert’s new novel, Under a White Sky, and engage in discussion with biologists, researchers and engineers who are hoping to tackle the current climate crisis. (£5.72) 

28th March – 4th April: Out-Spoken – the new resident music and poetry night with the Southbank CentreSome reggae, soul, and R&B with world class poets and musicians this month. (£7.50)
