Mattia studies the philosophy of society across a range of intellectual styles. Over the years, he has collaborated and published work about social ontology with scholars from a variety of disciplines, including psychology and neuroscience, public policy and literary theory.
Before joining LIS as an Associate Professor, Mattia managed the teaching and coordination activities of the Philosophy of the Social Sciences Masters’ programme at LSE. Prior to that, he ran the academic and operational management of an interdisciplinary research programme, called The Human Mind Project, at the University of London.
As a postdoc, Mattia held fellowships at The Italian Academy for Advanced Studies at Columbia University, and the Jean Nicod Institute at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris. He completed a PhD in Philosophy at Exeter in late 2010; an MSc in the Philosophy of the Social Sciences at LSE in 2006; and a Diploma di Laurea in Economics and Social Sciences at Bocconi University in 2004.
